Info Session: Everything you wanted to know about EU cultural policies

Friday, 13.11.09, 10:00 – 11:30

A complicated system of EU institutions, regulations, policies, political processes and support programs, sometimes seems hard to comprehend, especially from the perspective of the independent cultural sector. For most cultural operators in former Yugoslav countries, the EU seems distant from their interests and too complicated for their current capacities. Processes that have been taking place in EU cultural policies during the last few years are still relatively unknown. Inclusion of most of these countries in the Culture 2007 program slightly opens the window of opportunity for the independent cultural scene of the region, an opportunity to become a part of that complex system. But, before that, we must ask ourselves, what is culture to EU? What is its current position and what are its future perspectives? What are the changes and reforms that are being advocated in the EU at this moment?
